Welcome to blog central for ANTH 177 (Spring 2014). Students in this course maintain individual blogs in order to record their weekly lab hours and summaries, journal their brilliant thoughts about our readings, discuss our exhibit and inventory project, and generate discussion about museum-related issues, events or opportunities. This is a nuts and bolts course that complements ANTH 176: Museums, Culture & Society (an introduction to the scholarly field of museum anthropology).
I'm sure you can (fair-use for educational purposes, no commercial reproduction involved, etc.) I found it by doing a simple google image search (there are more where that one came from).
Great photo--and great synopsis of the Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Company. Airielle - your group can probably use quite a bit of that in your section.
You're doing a chronology, vs. timeline right? And yes, things that don't related directly to George might be important context. We can edit it out if it goes too far. I think we talked about having closure, reopening, and recent mine accident included (although I think if that goes anywhere, it will be in Cristian's panel?).
Yes, you're right. The overall history of Mt. Lyell is going to go into Cristian's large panel (on the pillar to the right of the nook). But I'll gather some important events that happened during the time George lived in Tasmania. If you think it fits we can slip those into the chronology.
Oh, that's gorgeous! Can TS use this postcard? I was thinking it would be a great smaller (postcard size) photo for the timeline/map.

ReplyDeleteLooks like it! I'll have to make sure Cristian sees this too (he's doing the Mt. Lyell/Mine didactic panel and related pictures).
DeleteShould I include a couple of the important dates for Mt. Lyell Mines itself on the timeline, although some might not directly pertain to George?
